Electrifying Trolleybuses

This is a Moldovan Trolleybus.  It is powered by the electrical lines that run overhead.  They are a very cheap way of getting around the city, provided you know where the bus stops are :)
The other day, I was riding the trolleybus back home from downtown during a light rain.  At one point, there was a loud “POP” and a huge blue spark was visible near the ceiling at the front of the bus.  I noticed this while I was holding onto the metal bars overhead.

You might think that the driver might stop and check things out.  Nope.  We just kept right on rolling.  It happened one more time, just before my stop, and an older lady exclaimed and some people gasped.  No worries – no one died.

At least, not while I was on board…
